The Joliet Community YMCA will host two free workshops aimed at supporting high school students and their families as they plan for life after graduation. The sessions are designed to provide information on college preparation and career opportunities in skilled trades.

The first event, "Finding Free Money for College Workshop," will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Joliet Junior College Event Center, Room 2001. According to the organizers, "This workshop will include tips for starting your college search, identifying possible red flags in your school choice, finding scholarships, and completing scholarship applications. All attendees will have access to an array of scholarship options and find answers to other commonly asked questions." While the session is primarily targeted at juniors and seniors, freshmen and sophomores are also invited. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend.

The second workshop, "Jobs in the Trades Workshop," is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Joliet Junior College Event Center Gymnasium. Organizers state that "Participants will gain valuable resources to help them prepare for their futures while hearing directly from industry professionals who can guide them toward successful careers in the trades.
