Joliet Township High School (JTHS) has announced a series of job shadowing opportunities for its students. The events are intended to help students explore various career paths and gain experience in professional environments.
Students can register for these job shadowing events through SchooLinks, where step-by-step directions are available. The current list of confirmed opportunities includes tours and programs at several organizations:
- Aux Sable Tour on September 23, 2025, at 8:30 AM for Central campus (11 students per visit)
- Aux Sable Tour on September 24, 2025, at 8:30 AM for West campus (11 students per visit)
- Nicor Gas Co. on October 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM (maximum of 40 students)
- Zurich Insurance Apprenticeship Program for seniors only on October 7, 2025, at 9:15 AM (14 students maximum)
- Ascend Conference on October 17, 2025, at 8:30 AM (20 students from each campus)
- Professional Choice Hair Academy on October 21, 2025, at 9:00 AM (30 students maximum)
- Joliet Rotary Youth Leadership Conference on October 28, 2025 (four student leaders per grade level from each campus; lunch will be served)
- ETI Skill School of Trades for juniors and seniors only on January 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM (28 students maximum)
- Lyondell Basell Plastics Engineering Company on March 10, 2026, at 8:45 AM (25 students maximum)

Joliet West High School serves grades nine through twelve and had an enrollment of approximately 3,310 students in the 2019–2020 school year. During that period, about 27.3 percent of the student body was in grade nine, making it the largest class by percentage. Grade ten accounted for 24.7 percent, grade eleven made up 25.1 percent, and grade twelve comprised 26.1 percent of enrollment.
The school's demographic breakdown during the same year included 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students.
"We are excited to share the current job shadowing opportunities that have been scheduled for our JTHS students," school officials stated in their announcement. "These opportunities are designed to give students the chance to explore different career paths and gain hands-on experience in professional settings."
