Joliet West announces events and deadlines for families during Attendance Awareness Month
Dr. Brett Marcum Assistant Principal | Joliet West High School

Joliet West High School is participating in national Attendance Awareness Month this September, urging families to focus on the importance of regular school attendance and punctuality. The school encourages parents and guardians to discuss attendance with their students and sign up for alerts that notify them when a student is absent or tardy.

Parents can access information about grades, attendance, tardies, schedules, assignments, and contact details for deans, counselors, and teachers through the Campus Parent portal. There are videos available to help navigate the system. For additional support in English or Spanish, Family Engagement Liaisons are available. Technology assistance for school-issued computers is provided via the school's help desk.

Joliet Township High School invites stakeholders to join its Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee, which focuses on issues such as student behavior, classroom disruptions, bus safety, law enforcement reporting, medication administration, and behavioral interventions. Meetings will be held at Joliet Central Multipurpose Room on several dates from September through December. Dinner is provided at each meeting and students who attend can earn community service hours.

Health documentation requirements remain a priority. According to Illinois School Code, freshmen and transfer students must submit a completed physical exam form and immunization record by October 15. Seniors must provide proof of receiving a meningitis vaccine after their 16th birthday by the same deadline or risk exclusion from school.
