Joliet Township High School has announced the return of its Community Connections Expo, scheduled for October 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Joliet Central High School, located at 201 E. Jefferson Street in Joliet.
The event is open to the public and will include a job fair, resource tables representing community organizations and school clubs, food vendors, musical entertainment by the Joliet Central Band, and breakout sessions aimed at preparing students and families for college and careers.
Organizers are seeking community partners to participate as resource vendors. There is no cost for vendors to take part in the expo. Those interested are encouraged to provide information or giveaway items during the event. The deadline to reserve a table is Friday, October 3.
“We encourage our community partners to take part in this meaningful event by providing information and/or giveaway items as a community resource vendor. There is no fee to participate,” stated organizers.
Additional details will be provided to groups that register before the deadline.
Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 with an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year. The largest group of students was in grade 9, making up 27.3 percent of the student body according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Other grades had similar representation: grade 10 comprised 24.7 percent, grade 11 had 25.1 percent, and grade 12 made up 26.1 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
The school's demographic breakdown for that year included approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
