During the annual Fix a Leak Week, individuals are encouraged to spend 10 minutes inspecting their bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms for potential leaks. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) highlights that even a minor faucet drip or an undetected toilet leak can result in significant water wastage. A leak of just two tablespoons per minute can lead to a loss of 15 gallons daily, accumulating to 105 gallons weekly and over 5,460 gallons annually.

To identify potential leaks, the EPA suggests reviewing your water bill. If a household of four exceeds 12,000 gallons per month during winter months like January or February, it may indicate a leak. It's important to monitor any unusual increases in water usage compared to previous months.

This week emphasizes bathroom inspections for leaks. The EPA provides several tips to help locate these elusive issues.
