School events mark holiday season in Joliet region

Families and students are reminded that there will be no school on November 27, 28, and 29 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. In a message of gratitude, the superintendent expressed appreciation for students, staff, and the community.

On November 29, families and the community can enjoy the "Light up the Holidays Parade and Tree Lighting" event. The day promises various activities including a North Pole Market, horse-drawn carriage rides, a parade, tree lighting celebration, and fireworks show. This event is free for all attendees.

December 5 marks an early release School Improvement Day. Students from Central, West, and Pathway will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m., AVAC students at 11:30 a.m., and Transition Center students at 10:45 a.m.

The Joliet West Choirs invite everyone to their annual "Songs of the Season Benefit Dinner" on December 5 at the Jacob Henry Mansion Ballroom in Joliet. Starting with raffles and a cash bar from 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner, this evening features performances by the Joliet West Choir. Tickets are priced at $45 per person with proceeds going to support the choir. Reservations must be made by November 26.

The Joliet West Winter Band Concert is scheduled for December 10 at 7 p.m. in the West Auditorium. Attendees can expect performances from various bands along with some holiday music from the Jazz Ensemble starting at 6:40 p.m. Admission is free.

On December 12 at 7 p.m., families are invited to attend the Joliet West Winter Choral Concert featuring several choirs including those from Troy Middle School in the Joliet West Auditorium. This event is also free to attend.

Community members are invited to join the next meeting of Joliet Region Education Community Connectors (JRECC) on December 13. Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m., with Spanish interpretation available during presentations by United Way of Will County and JTHS Catalyst Program.

The JTHS Board of Education will hold its next meeting on December 17 at 7 p.m., welcoming families and community members to participate or make public comments after signing up before arrival.

Lastly, semester one final exams for Joliet Central and Joliet West are set for December 18-20.
