Joliet West High School has announced several events and initiatives for October, including activities focused on bullying prevention, student support, and community engagement.

In recognition of Bullying Prevention Month, school leaders emphasized their stance against bullying. "At our school, bullying of any kind, by any person, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. All students should be free from worries about being bullied. We encourage all students, staff, parents, and community members to speak up if they witness bullying or any safety concerns," the message stated. The school provided multiple ways for students and families to report incidents or seek help anonymously.

Mental health resources were also highlighted in the communication. Families are encouraged to use services such as the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988) and the Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741.

On October 4, JTHS students have an opportunity to earn service hours at a neighborhood cleanup and bake sale event at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Joliet.

A FAFSA/RISE Act Alternative Application Completion Workshop is scheduled for October 8 at Joliet West High School to assist students and families with financial aid applications.

Joliet Central High School’s Drama Department will present "The Stowaway" from October 9 to 11. Early release is planned for all district schools on October 9 due to a School Improvement Day.

Homecoming weekend at Joliet West begins on October 10 with a parade followed by a football game against Plainfield East. The Homecoming Dance will take place on October 11.

On October 14, Joliet West hosts the annual Pink Heals JT Volleyball Fundraiser featuring games between Central and West teams along with a Survivor Walk. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

The Community Connections Expo takes place on October 16 at Joliet Central High School offering workshops, job fair opportunities, resource tables, food vendors, live music, childcare services and community service hours for attending workshops.

Other events this month include college financial aid workshops at Joliet Junior College (October 18), support group meetings for grandparents raising children (October 21), Board of Education meeting at Joliet West (October 21), Dual Credit Information Night hosted by Joliet Junior College (October 22), Trunk-or-Treat events at both Central and West campuses (October 22), virtual Parent Teacher Conferences (October 23-24), Monster Mash family event hosted by the YMCA (October 25), and a call for mentors for the Winter Athlete Mentorship Dinner scheduled November 18.
