On April 15, 2026, students from Joliet West High School Symphonic Band will join the Joliet Central High School Symphonic Band and the Joliet American Legion Band for a performance at Chicago’s Symphony Center. The event will take place at the home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

A statement from organizers described the significance of this opportunity: “For our students, this is more than a concert – it’s the chance to perform on Chicago’s most iconic stage.”

Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 3,310 students in the 2019-2020 school year. The school is located in Joliet, Will County (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). According to state data, about 27.3 percent of these students were in grade 9 during that year, making it the largest class by enrollment (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student body includes approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, and 39 percent Hispanic students as reported for the same period (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

Further details about the April concert are expected to be released as planning continues.
