Families and students are being reminded of available mental health resources during the spring break holiday. The change in season can sometimes lead to unexpected emotions, and several services are accessible even while staff is out of the office.

Thriveworks offers free mental health services to JTHS students, families, and staff. Services are available both in-person and online within 3-5 days after an appointment request. They address issues such as relationship problems, mental illness, grief, child/adolescent concerns, and stress. To access these services, individuals can call (855) 707-2461 or visit their website.

NAMI is another community partner providing local mental health services. For assistance, people can call (815) 409-7917 or visit their website.

The Mobile Crisis Response program offers mental health screening and assessment for children, adolescents, and adults before hospital admission for psychiatric care. This service aims to maintain individuals in less restrictive settings by working with families at home or other natural environments. The program operates 24/7 throughout the year.

Will County Health Department's 590 Crisis Care Program provides crisis care services to all Will County residents regardless of insurance status. Their Crisis Response Team is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Joliet Township Government provides free therapy services for residents aged 6 to 24 years old through its Trauma Informed Behavioral Health Service. Licensed therapists offer psychoeducation and psychological first aid addressing traumatic events like bullying or abuse.

Aunt Martha’s Comprehensive Community-Based Youth Services (CCBYS) program offers a 24-hour crisis response for youth ages 11-17. The team works with youth and families to ensure safety and support family plans. CCBYS assists with various crises involving youth at risk of involvement with DCFS or the juvenile justice system.

Trinity Services partners with The Hope Institute for Children & Families through the Illinois Crisis Prevention Network to provide crisis intervention via a direct line at (815) 320-7300. Individuals over 18 can also access “The Living Room,” a calm environment alternative to emergency rooms for de-escalating mental health stressors.

In life-threatening emergencies, it is advised to call 9-1-1 or use the National Suicide Hotline by calling or texting 988.

Additional resources are posted online for those needing further support during this period.
