Yvette Justice College & Career Specialist | Joliet West High School

Joliet Township High School, in collaboration with the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship, is offering the CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) program to students who will be juniors and seniors next school year. This accredited, year-long course aims to equip students with skills to create and run a business while learning from local business owners and professionals.

The CEO program provides a unique learning experience by taking students out of the traditional classroom setting. Students will visit over 30 Joliet-area businesses, meet owners, gain hands-on experience, and learn how businesses operate. They are paired with community mentors and will create their own businesses, which will be presented at a Trade Show event at the end of the school year.

Local businesses support this initiative by providing funding, expertise, meeting space, tours, and one-on-one mentoring. Through this experiential class, students develop critical skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, self-motivation, responsibility, higher-order thinking, communication, and inquiry.

Current sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply for this program that offers real-world skills through experiences outside the classroom. The application deadline is March 22, 2025.

"Students of all skill sets and backgrounds can thrive in this class as long as they are hard-working," said representatives from Joliet Township High School.
