Joliet Township High School (JTHS) is hosting a Community Connections Expo on Thursday, February 20, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joliet West High School. The event will include a Job and Community Resource Fair, musical entertainment by the Joliet West Band, food, raffles, spirit wear sales, Esports gaming, and more. Attendees can enter through Door 5 (Cafeteria Entrance) off Glenwood Avenue.
Students have an opportunity to earn two community service hours by attending one of the Expo Empowerment Sessions scheduled from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. These sessions will address topics such as summer internships, job interviews, and post-high school planning. Participants will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.
One of the key features of the expo is the CED Summer Internship Application Help session. This session aims to assist students in applying for one of the 147 paid summer internship positions offered through the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED). The deadline for these applications is February 21, just a day after the expo. Graduating seniors from the Class of 2025 are encouraged to apply for these internships that provide practical experience alongside financial compensation.
During this workshop, students will receive guidance on completing their internship applications and resumes. It is recommended that attendees bring their laptops to finalize their applications during the session.
