The Joliet Township High School Orchestra has initiated the "Support the Score" campaign to commission a new orchestral piece in honor of its 120th anniversary. This composition will be performed by the student musicians of the orchestra, celebrating the school's long-standing musical heritage.
Kirt Mosier, an internationally recognized composer and conductor known for his dynamic compositions, has been chosen to create this work. The debut is scheduled for Fall 2025 and aims to be a significant addition to the school's history.
The Joliet Township High School Orchestra Parents Association (JTHS OPA) is spearheading the fundraising efforts for this project. Peter Lipari, Orchestra Director, emphasized the importance of this opportunity: "As a Title I school district, over 70% of our students come from low-income households, yet their passion for music and dedication to excellence is unmatched. This campaign is about giving them the opportunity to be part of something truly special—something they will carry with them forever. We can’t wait to share this with our community!"
The campaign invites donations through various means including credit card, PayPal, or check. Sponsorships are available at different levels with some offering signed scores by Mosier and recognition plaques.
The JTHS OPA supports young musicians and maintains the orchestra's tradition of excellence. Contributions will help realize this unique project, providing students and community members an exclusive experience.
