The Community Connections Expo is scheduled to take place on October 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Joliet Central High School. This event welcomes individuals of all ages and will feature a variety of activities and resources.
Attendees can look forward to performances by the Joliet Community Mariachi, presentations from over 60 employers and community resource providers, as well as displays of student activities. Additional attractions include food trucks, an E-Sports Gaming Room, Health & Wellness Talks, and the Hidden in Plain Sight Trailer. Participants can also earn raffle tickets for attending health and wellness talks with prizes valued at over $1,000.
Parking is available in any school lot, with building entry through Door J (Auditorium) off Eastern Avenue or the Main Entrance (Student Center). Handicapped parking and elevator access are accessible via I Door off Eastern Avenue or the Main Entrance.
The schedule includes a performance by Mariachi de Joliet from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM along with food trucks and expos. From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, there will be Health & Wellness Talks featuring expert speakers such as Silver Cross on meal planning, Dr. Ferney Ramirez discussing mental health in Spanish, CPR demonstrations by the Joliet Fire Department, Guardian Angel Community Services addressing healthy relationships and teen dating violence, VNA Health Care's vaping Q&A session, Will County Health Department on substance abuse prevention, and JTHS providing mental health support.
Job fair providers participating include Accurate Personnel, Cintas, Emediate Cure Quick Care among others. Community resource providers range from Blue Cross Blue Shield to the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services. Participating athletics clubs include JT Archives Committee and Boys Volleyball.
