TRIO, in collaboration with Prosperity in Education and Justus League Hoop Inc., will host an event focused on connecting attendees with colleges, trades, and community resources. The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at the Joliet Central High School cafeteria.
The organizers state: "TRIO is teaming up with Prosperity in Education & Justus League Hoop Inc. to bring you an epic night of Colleges, Trades, & Community Resources — all ready to help YOU win! "
The event is free and open to all ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from more than 20 colleges and trade organizations. Organizers encourage participants to bring their transcripts.
Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year. The student body was composed of approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Of these students, grade 9 accounted for the largest group at 27.3 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), followed by grade 12 at 26.1 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), grade 11 at 25.1 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), and grade 10 at 24.7 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
The event aims to provide information about educational pathways and local resources for current high school students as well as other community members.
