Joliet Region Education Community Connectors schedules first meeting for September

Families, faith-based leaders, and community partners are invited to the first Joliet Region Education Community Connectors (JRECC) meeting of the year on September 12, 2025. The event will take place at the JTHS Administrative Center, located at 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 a.m., and the meeting is scheduled to end by 10:00 a.m. Spanish interpretation services will be available.

The meeting aims to bring together members of faith-based and community organizations with Joliet Township High School (JTHS) leadership and the superintendent. The goal is to align resources, embrace diversity, and support school and district objectives.

Attendees will hear two presentations during the session. Chantel Gamboa, CEO/Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet, will provide an overview of her organization’s programming and its role in supporting local youth. There will also be a presentation titled “Get Involved at JTHS – Meet the New Athletics & Activities Directors,” featuring Lisa Luangsomkham, Assistant Director of Athletics & Activities at Central Campus, and Craig Pinson, Assistant Director of Athletics & Activities at West Campus.

Joliet West High School serves students in grades 9 through 12 in Joliet and Will County. During the 2019-2020 school year, enrollment was reported at 3,310 students according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Of these students, grade 9 had the highest concentration with 27.3 percent enrolled (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), followed by grade 12 with 26.1 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), grade 11 with 25.1 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), and grade 10 with 24.7 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student body was composed of approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students during that period (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
