Joliet Township High School opens morning walker program for adults
Dr. Sean Hackney Assistant Principal | Joliet West High School

Joliet Township High School is inviting adults aged 18 and older to take part in its Morning Walker Program for the 2025-2026 school year. The program allows participants to use the field houses at both Joliet Central and Joliet West High School for walking from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on days when school is in session, beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

To join the program, individuals must complete several steps before using District 204 facilities. Participants are required to sign an Agreement for Participant & Waiver Release of all Claims and Hold Harmless Agreement for JTHS, show a current picture ID such as a state ID or driver’s license for processing through the Raptor System, and sign in each time they enter and leave.

Parking arrangements differ by location. At Joliet Central, walkers should park in E lot off Herkimer Street and enter through F door. At Joliet West, parking is available near Door 14 (Field House Entrance), which is also the entry point. All participants must vacate the parking lots by 6:30 a.m. so staff can access their assigned spaces.

Facility rules specify that participants cannot enter the main building without permission, may only bring water into the facility, and cannot use tobacco products on school grounds. Bathrooms are available for changing but there are no shower facilities. Classes at both schools begin at 7:20 a.m., so all walkers must leave by 6:30 a.m.

Participation is limited to those aged 18 or older.

Joliet West High School serves grades nine through twelve with an enrollment of over three thousand students during the 2019-2020 school year https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/. The student body consists of approximately one-third white students, about one-fifth black students, nearly two-fifths Hispanic students, and less than two percent Asian students https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

The program provides community members with an opportunity to exercise indoors while adhering to established safety protocols.
