The Joliet Township High School (JTHS) community is preparing for a series of events and activities scheduled throughout February. These events aim to engage students, families, and the wider community in various educational and recreational opportunities.
On February 5, the JTHS State of the District Address will take place at Joliet Central High School. The event begins with a Meet and Greet from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by the address from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP.
The same day, a Fleece Blanket Event will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Joliet Central's Multipurpose Rooms. Students from both Joliet Central and West are invited to create fleece blankets for cancer patients, earning up to three hours of community service.
On January 31, Joliet Central hosts the "Take Down Cancer" Crosstown Boys Wrestling Tournament against West in the Main Gym starting at 5 p.m. Proceeds support Takedown Cancer and the Addison Locke Scholarship.
February continues with Joliet East Alumni Night on February 7 during a basketball doubleheader honoring alumni who receive free entry upon registration by February 6.
The Tiger Pride Leadership Council will host a Bring Your Boo/Bestie Bingo event on February 12 for students and staff at Joliet West High School from 4 to 5:30 p.m., featuring prizes and refreshments.
An early release is scheduled for School Improvement Day on February 13, with different dismissal times across campuses.
Community members can attend the next JRECC Meeting on February 14 featuring presentations by Kaprinta Marek from Will County Community Health Center and Megan Gunier from Joliet West Cool Down Room.
The Grandparents Raising Children support group meets on February 18, providing guidance for non-custodial caregivers navigating educational systems.
A JTHS Board of Education meeting is set for February 18 at 7 p.m., welcoming public comments before commencement.
On February 20, the Community Connections Expo & Job Fair takes place at Joliet West High School offering job resources, entertainment, raffles, and more. Attending students earn two community service hours per empowerment session attended.
Applications for Will County CED Summer Internships close on February 21. These paid opportunities are available through partnerships with select school districts including JTHS.
Joliet West hosts its Black & White Dance on February 22; tickets are $25 with conditions applied regarding student fees clearance by February 10.
Concluding Black History Month activities is an African American Read-In hosted by Joliet Central's Black Student Union in collaboration with National Hook-Up of Black Women Inc., themed “How Black Music Shaped America,” scheduled for February 28 at Joliet Central Auditorium.
Finally, the JTHS Foundation Trivia Event occurs March 9 benefiting educational grants and scholarships provided by the foundation.
