Tecara Parker Principal | Joliet West High School

The Community Connections Job and Community Resource Expo is set to take place on February 20, 2025, at Joliet West High School. The event invites parents, students, and the community to engage with over 40 community resource providers and companies looking to hire. Attendees are encouraged to enter through Door 5 (Cafeteria Entrance) off Glenwood Avenue.

The expo will run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and promises a range of activities for visitors. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Joliet West Jazz Band from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Foyer (Door 5). A job fair featuring employers and community resource providers will be held in the Cafeteria during the event hours.

Food options available for purchase include pizza, fresh fruit with Tajín, granola from Frutas y Gaspachos Lucy, and coffee from AVAC Marvelous Coffee Shop. These can be found in the Cafeteria between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

For attendees aged ten and up, an E-Sports Gaming Room (B114) will offer insights into the club and video gaming activities from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Additionally, spirit wear will be available for purchase at the Ken Woody Sports table in the Foyer during event hours.

From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Family & Student Empowerment Sessions will provide valuable information on various topics. These sessions include "Stronger Together: Family & School Partnership Night," "The Vape Escape: Identifying and Conquering Substance Abuse," "Get Paid to Play: Summer Internship Prep & More!," "Nail the Interview: Secrets to Scoring Your Dream Job," and "Life After High School - Preparing for Post High School Success." JTHS students attending these sessions can earn two community service hours and receive a raffle ticket for prize drawings.

Organizers encourage participation in this opportunity to connect with resources, explore job prospects, and gain empowerment tools for future success.

"We look forward to seeing you there!"
