Joliet Central and West high school students have the opportunity to participate in a job shadowing field trip at Nicor Gas. Scheduled for January 29, the event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Nicor Gas's Technical Training Center in Naperville. The visit is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with transportation provided at no cost.
Students interested in attending must sign up through school links or submit the Nicor Gas Field Trip Form to their College and Career Center. Forms are available at the center, and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants will tour the Technical Training Facility, which features classrooms, welding stations, and a gas town replica. They will observe demonstrations by experienced trainers who instruct new field employees.
The field trip also includes a visit to the Customer Care Center where students can engage with clerical employees handling customer inquiries and service requests.
This experience aims to provide insights into career opportunities within the gas industry, particularly in customer care and field operations.
Seats are limited; therefore, early registration is encouraged via school links or by submitting forms to College and Career counselors.
