Will County offers paid summer internships for high school students
Maureen Pulaski Academy Coordinator | Joliet West High School

The Will County Center for Economic Development (CED) has announced the availability of 147 paid summer internships for students in select Will County School Districts, including Joliet Township High Schools (JTHS). This initiative is designed to provide students with career exploration opportunities, valuable resume-building experience, and community connections.

Internships are offered at local businesses such as Pace Bus, Silver Cross Hospital, the Joliet Public Library, YMCA, and Harbor Freight Tools. Graduating seniors from the Class of 2025 are also eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is February 21.

Students completing these internships can earn 0.25 credits per 60 hours of approved work experience per semester, up to a total of 0.5 credits. The program allows students not only to earn money but also academic credit.

Each internship comes with a job description that students should review carefully to ensure they meet qualifications and find positions aligning with their skills and interests. There is no limit on the number of applications a student can submit.

Applicants must arrange their own transportation and provide two references: one from a teacher and another personal reference. A resume is required for application; some positions may also require a cover letter as specified in job descriptions.

Students need to submit an unofficial transcript accessible through Infinite Campus for application purposes.

For more information or inquiries about participating as an internship host, contact Kayla Sorensen, Director of Investor Relations at Will County CED.
