JTHS announces Halloween costume guidelines for students and staff
Christopher Wild School Counselor, (Rosi - Thom) | Joliet West High School

Students and families have been informed about the Halloween costume guidelines for this year's celebration at JTHS. Students and staff are encouraged to dress in costumes on Thursday, October 31, as part of the festivities.

The guidelines emphasize that all costumes must comply with the existing student dress code outlined in the Student Handbook. The rules specify that no weapons, whether fake or real, are allowed at school. Additionally, costumes should not depict blood or violence.

Masks and face coverings are prohibited, as is face paint. Costumes must be manageable in size to ensure students can move safely through their daily activities, such as walking and sitting at desks. This means avoiding large costumes like sumo wrestling outfits or inflatable dinosaurs.

The final guideline suggests a common-sense approach: "If you think your costume might be inappropriate, it probably is."
