Joliet Catholic Academy has announced its Students of the Month for October. The honored students are Zoe Girard, Samuel Kottman, and Molly Vershay, each recognized for their achievements both academically and within the community.
Zoe Girard, representing the Kiwanis Club, is from Bolingbrook and graduated from All Saints Catholic Academy Grade School. She is active in the National Honor Society and National English Honors Society. Her academic accomplishments include awards in AP English and AP U.S. History. Zoe also participates in varsity volleyball and a club volleyball team. Outside school, she works at Portillo’s and volunteers at Feed My Starving Children. She plans to play volleyball at Juniata College and aspires to attend law school.
Samuel Kottman, chosen by the Rotary Club, hails from Joliet and is an alumnus of Holy Family Grade School. He holds memberships in several honor societies including National Honor Society and Thespian Honors Society. Samuel has earned recognition through medals and theatre awards. His extracurricular activities include leadership roles in Drama Club, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Math Team, Tech Club, and participation in varsity tennis. Samuel volunteers with Hands of Hope and Holy Family School while considering college options with an interest in cybersecurity or computer science.
Molly Vershay represents the Lions Club from Shorewood after graduating from St. Raymond Grade School. She is involved with multiple honor societies such as Mu Alpha Theta and National Art Honors Society. Molly serves as Key Club Secretary while participating in Student Ambassadors and Habitat for Humanity. Her volunteer work extends to Alden Estates of Shorewood Nursing Home. Although undecided on her college choice, she plans to major in English, political science or statistics with law school as a future goal.
Dr. Jeffrey Budz expressed pride in these students' success saying: "JCA is proud of the success these students have exhibited in both the classroom and in the community."
