Community Connections Expo offers workshops and resources at Joliet Central High School tonight

The Community Connections Expo is scheduled to take place tonight, October 16, at Joliet Central High School from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is open to the public and offers free admission. Joliet Township High School (JTHS) students who attend one of the interactive workshops will receive two community service hours. The workshops are intended to help students and families prepare for college, careers, and other future opportunities.

The event will feature a job fair, community resource tables, food vendors, and musical entertainment by the Joliet Central Band. Workshops and e-sports gaming will be available from 6 to 7 p.m., while the band performance will occur from 5 to 6 p.m. Free childcare will be provided for preschool-aged children and older, with the requirement that all children must be potty-trained.

Additional activities include spirit wear sales and an athletics/activities expo. Attendees can enter the building through Door G or J (Auditorium Entrance off Eastern Avenue) and park in Lots A, B, or C, or use Door F (Field House off Herkimer Street) with parking in Lots D and E. All guests are required to pass through the Evolve security system upon entry.

There are two areas to enter the building. All guests will be required to pass through the Evolve security system upon entry.

1. Enter the building through Door G or J (Auditorium Entrance off Eastern Avenue) & park in Lots A, B, or C.

2. Enter the building through Door F (Field House off Herkimer Street) & park in Lots D & E."

Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year. The student body includes a diverse population with approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, and 39 percent Hispanic students according to data from the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
