The Community Connections Expo is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Joliet Central High School. The event is open to all ages and aims to provide resources and information for students and families about college, careers, and community opportunities.

Attendees can expect a job fair, more than 60 community resource tables, food vendors, musical entertainment, and workshops. Free childcare will be available for preschool-aged children who are potty-trained. Joliet Township High School (JTHS) students who attend one of the workshops will receive two community service hours.

The schedule includes a performance by the Joliet Central Band from 5 to 6 p.m., a job fair, an athletics and activities expo with over 60 tables, spirit wear sales, free childcare services, as well as workshops and e-sports gaming from 6 to 7 p.m.

Entry to the building will require passing through the Evolve security system. Guests can enter through Door G or J (Auditorium Entrance off Eastern Avenue) with parking in Lots A, B, or C; or through Door F (Field House off Herkimer Street) with parking in Lots D or E.

Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year. The school is located in Joliet within Will County. In that year, grade 9 had the highest percentage of students at 27.3 percent; other grades included grade 10 at 24.7 percent, grade 11 at 25.1 percent, and grade 12 at 26.1 percent according to data from the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student body was composed of approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students during that period (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
