Joliet West High School is seeking community members to serve as mentors for its upcoming Winter Mentorship Dinner, which will focus on senior athletes. The event is scheduled for November 18, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the school's cafeteria. Dinner will be provided at no cost to participants.
Athletic Director Steve Millsaps issued an invitation for local residents to participate. "During the dinner, the mentor is paired with an athlete to tell their story and engage in conversation. The stories build connections and serve as an inspiration to our students. Every path to success is different, and we hope that you can share yours," Millsaps said.
Joliet West High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year, according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). Of these students, about 26 percent were seniors at that time (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolid=560992040170003).
The school’s student body is diverse, consisting of approximately 35 percent white students, 21 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and nearly two percent Asian students in the same academic year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolid=560992040170003).
