At JTHS, the focus on college and career readiness remains a central mission. The institution is committed to providing students with the necessary experiences, coursework, and skills to prepare them for life after high school. This preparation could lead them towards college, a career, or technical training.
This year marks the introduction of Career Week for ninth-grade students from November 12 to November 15, 2024. The event aims to assist students in exploring their postsecondary options and developing future plans. A new platform called SchoolLinks will be utilized during this week. SchoolLinks is designed to help students explore, plan, and achieve their post-secondary goals while also offering tools for families to stay involved.
Career Week will feature various activities that support college and career exploration:
- Students will complete a "Would You Rather" assessment and discuss their responses to identify career preferences.
- They will watch career exploration videos that provide insights into different fields and opportunities.
- Students can choose one specific activity to deepen their exploration and reflect on what they have learned.
- The course registration process will be reviewed so students understand how academic choices align with their career and college goals.
The school expresses enthusiasm about guiding students through this journey and anticipates the insights and excitement Career Week will generate. Appreciation is extended to families for their support as students are empowered to explore interests and plan for the future.
