Joliet West High School is set to open registration for its winter Driver Education course on November 4 at 8 a.m. The course is available to sophomore, junior, and senior students who meet specific criteria. To be eligible, students must be at least 15 years old by November 25, 2024, and have passed at least eight classes over the past two semesters.
The online registration link will become active on the morning of November 4 and remain open for 24 hours. However, submitting the Permit to Enroll form does not ensure a spot in the class due to limited seating. Priority enrollment is given to upperclassmen and those with an attendance rate exceeding 90% in the previous two semesters.
Parents or guardians of students who secure a seat will receive notification via email after registration closes. A $250 Driver Education fee will be added to Joliet Township students' accounts and must be paid by November 15th; failure to do so results in being dropped from the class. Junior and Senior students eligible for Free Lunch Fees are exempt from this charge.
Prospective participants should note that winter athletes cannot enroll due to conflicting required seat time hours. Careful selection of class days is advised as changes may not be possible once rosters are finalized.
Classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:50 p.m., with additional Saturday sessions scheduled for December 7 and 14, January 11, 18, and 25, as well as February 1.
